Video showing the conditions of child workers in cotton fields in India. The children are mostly girls, some as young as 10 or 11. They are paid very low wages that are mostly sent to their parents. One child has scratches along her arm from the cotton plants.  The children are working 10 to 14 hours a day in scorching heat. The accompanying article explains that one child was not even sure how old she was.

Explains in numbers and facts the great gap between genders and poverty. Many statistics show small gaps, but it is widely known that we are leaving out households in Sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia that are difficult to reach and measure. Contraception is unavailable to many women. This leads to more children, higher rates of poverty, and maternal death. Speaker explains UN initiatives that have been put into place to empower women and change lives of young girls.
